Stage 9 – Copiapo to La Serena – Done!
After changing today’s route due to fog, the stage ended up being a figure of 8 in the sand. Unfortunately Philip got his navigation mixed up TWICE and ended up riding the biggest dune in the figure TWICE!! On his second trip into the mammoth dune he was followed by a chopper which hovered over him until he dug himself out of the pit and got on with the job at hand. He’s just finished and had some fuelling issues along the way too which need to be rectified. Brian and Barry are now taking him back to the bivouac on a long 400km liaison which isn’t pretty at the end of that day but he’s delighted the guys are there to support him. At any rate it’s another good day under his belt and just 5 days to go to the finish line, the excitement and support is mounting!

Well done you survived to ride another day Philip. It wouldn’t be Dakar without a few adventures along the way eh. Keep her lit!! The lads on the ADV forum are all still cheering you on and tracking you daily…
